New life was breathed into Liverpool’s transfer window on Saturday after links emerged with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.
The Reds have so far been especially quiet in the summer market. No deals have been done for either incoming or outgoing players.
With the ongoing international tournaments in Germany and the United States, that was always likely to happen. The recent arrival of Arne Slot also means that Liverpool are undergoing a summer of transition.
Nevertheless, transfer links have continued to come. The strongest so far has involved Gordon, who was reportedly offered to Liverpool as part of a swap deal involving Jarell Quansah.
And with so much noise surrounding the Newcastle winger on Saturday, it was interesting to see him in training with Trent Alexander-Arnold for England.
Anthony Gordon spotted with Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold has attempted to be something of a ‘secret agent’ for Liverpool in the transfer window previously.
Conor Coady recently outlined how Trent tried to woo Jude Bellingham into moving to Liverpool during the 2022 World Cup.
Although that ultimately failed, Bellingham joining Real Madrid instead, it looks like the Reds’ No.66 has now been at it once again.
As Gordon himself noted, Alexander-Arnold and Bellingham are rarely apart during England duty.

But as seen in a video posted by Sky Sports News on Saturday, the Liverpool right-back has left Jude’s side during the pre-Slovakia training session.
Instead, the Sky Sports cameras caught Alexander-Arnold strolling and chatting with Gordon as they go through their stretches.
Seen laughing and occasionally even hugging, the two Scousers appeared to be in particularly high spirits.
Gordon and Alexander-Arnold also paired up while being put through their paces in a reaction test after stretching off. Trent’s usual partner, Bellingham, instead made a two with Adam Wharton.
What’s the latest on Anthony Gordon to Liverpool?
Alexander-Arnold partnering up with Gordon could of course mean nothing at all. But it does seem somewhat coincidental given the recent news.
However, the latest does appear to be that Gordon will not be moving to Liverpool this summer.
It has been claimed that the 23-year-old’s price-tag, his current involvement with England and also Newcastle’s insistence on involving Quansah in the deal will put paid to any move.
Nevertheless, there have also been counterclaims that the transfer is not yet dead. Reports have suggested that Liverpool could come back in for Gordon before the end of the weekend.
With Newcastle needing to raise some funds before Sunday’s PSR deadline, this is one to watch over the next couple of days. Keep in his ear, Trent!
