It wasn’t the best finish, but Frankie Muniz is leaving Nashville Superspeedway with a smile on his face following the NASCAR Truck Series race on Friday evening.
After a more than disappointing showing at Portland during an attempted run in the Xfinity Series, Muniz’s future in NASCAR was in question. It seemed like the former television star was getting fed up with the way he was running on the track, and he wondered if it was time to hang up his helmet.
Well, even though Muniz came home P31, he told FOX’s Bob Pockrass that he felt like Nashville was a step in the right direction for him and his NASCAR career, giving him a shot in the arm.
“I had a blast, honestly. I know maybe on paper it doesn’t look like the result we wanted to have, but I wanted to just run as many laps as possible, get comfortable in the truck,” Muniz explained. “I was racing with people, I was kind of in some battles, and that’s what I needed to do. I’m super grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity, and Ford Performance, and I don’t know, I honestly had a good time, and this is the first time this year that I feel like I’ve gotten out of a race car and can say that I had a good time, even though we still had a little bit of issues here and there, but I don’t know. I’m really excited for the next one, and I can definitely take stuff from what I learned here in the truck, and how it drives in the air and all of that kind of stuff and apply it.
“You know, I came in here kind of going, ‘I don’t really know what to expect,’ but I feel a lot better for the next one, for sure.”
Moving forward, Frankie Muniz will be back in the Truck Series when the campaign moves to Bristol and Kansas, he told Bob Pockrass.
We’ll see if he finishes better then, but it’s evident he’s utilizing the experience he’s gaining to improve each time he gets behind the wheel. He has a ton of people rooting for him, too.
Christian Eckes leads every lap in dominant win at Nashville Superspeedway
Meanwhile, Christian Eckes led all of the laps in the Rackley Roofing 200 to win in dominating fashion at Nashville Superspeedway. Three wins on the season for Eckes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Christian Eckes was fantastic all night long. When the 19 team is clicking and firing on all cylinders, it is something to behold. When you talk about dominant wins, it doesn’t get more dominant than what we saw tonight from Eckes.
Right now, it feels like Corey Heim and Eckes are going to go wire-to-wire for this championship. Neither one of them can get the upper hand on the other, really. For Friday though, Eckes was on top.
While everyone likes to talk about other drivers when it comes to Cup Series rides in the future, Eckes does not get mentioned nearly enough. He is the real deal. This was the first time a driver has led every lap of a national series race since 2012.
