Next season, Josh Berry will be in a new ride. If he has his way, many of his Stewart-Haas Racing crew members will follow. The NASCAR Cup Series rookie has had a wild first year in the sport. His second year could be more intense.

For 2025, Josh Berry has been rumored for a couple of rides. A Front Row Motorsports seat as well as the Wood Brothers Racing car. One question that everyone keeps asking is, will Rodney Childers follow him?

During his media availability on Saturday, Berry talked about 2025. He also talked about the importance of being familiar with your team and how much that goes into success on the track.

“For one, for me, is I spent a decade racing Late Models and working on my own race cars, and racing with the same group,” Berry said. “I know how important it is having the right people in place and people that you can work with and perform with at a high level. I physically put my own hands on my own race cars and built my own race cars and worked with these people that helped me learn and be a part of that.

“So, you know, sometimes guys get up here and it’s all ‘Me, me, me, me. I can drive that car better than this guy.’ I have a pretty good understanding I feel like that it takes everybody to do this, and all the guys that are great at this, you know, Kevin [Harvick] for example, always talked about how strong that group is. And it’s true, I’m living it right now.”

That is why Berry wants to fight for his team. They have him in position to win Rookie of the Year.

Josh Berry going to bat for his crew chief and crew

Continuing with his answer, Josh Berry kept bringing it back to the team. It is clear how important his time at Stewart-Haas has been for the 33-year-old driver.

“So, I think I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t fight for them too in this and I didn’t, it would be easy for me to come up here and say it’s all about me, but it’s not.”

Berry cares deeply about his team. He loves to work with Rodney Childers. So, it makes sense that he wants to keep the crew together. That doesn’t mean that is how things will work out in the end.

“For me, I obviously want, and those guys would say too their number one goal is they want to see me drive a Cup car, right? I just felt that I needed to, I guess it’s not necessarily fight for those guys because they’re all great at what they do. … But there’s still a part of me that yeah, that I want to try to stay with some of those guys if I can. I’m just not sure if that’s going to be possible but I felt like if I, at least I know regardless of how this works out, I said what was on my heart and tried to fight for it and I think that will help me sleep at night.”

A short track racer through and through, Josh Berry knows how to succeed in racing. A driver can only do so much. If the entire team doesn’t come together, it doesn’t work.

From building his own race cars to racing high-end equipment in the Cup Series. Berry has had a taste of it all.
