Alpharetta (Ga.) EDGE Julius Holly took four official visits in June. The first went to Michigan on June 7. The Wolverines set the tone on that visit. After his time in Ann Arbor, Holly compared Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas A&M to the Wolverines. None changed the way he felt and the No. 236 prospect in the On300 has committed to the reigning national champions.

“Since that visit to Michigan, me and my family have been talking Big Blue every day, all day,” Holly told On3. “Georgia was a close runner up, and all four schools were great, but the in the end it is Michigan because of the people up there. Going into the visit, I knew about their academics and the football history, but the feeling around the people made it different.

“In the end, I chose Michigan because of the combination of academics and football, what kind of staff coach Sherrone Moore has, the fit and how I just felt comfortable around the people. That was it for me.”

Michigan set the tone for Holly on his official visit

Michigan took the lead after getting Holly’s first visit. It was his first time in Ann Arbor and the culture fit him. He felt comfortable around the coaches, the players and the people around the campus. That feeling never left.

“I made the final decision this week and I let the coaches know on Thursday, but I have been feeling Michigan for a while. I lived up north for some time, and the people at Michigan are the kind of people I just hang out with day to day. It felt like friends up there around the people, how I got along with the players and stayed with me throughout the different visits.”

Michigan has the culture and academics Holly was looking for

Now Holly is excited about his future in Big Ten. Academics are important to him, and he knows he will get a top education. He can’t wait to pushed on and off the field at Michigan.

“I get the best of both at Michigan,” Holly said. “Michigan offers one of the best educations at any public school in the country. Then I get to play for great coaches and with great players.

“Coach Lou Esposito is a great coach. He is a great guy who can further my game as a weakside end in their defense. Coach Moore and I have been talking a lot the last few weeks and I am excited to play for him. He is the head coach I believe in and want to play for. I love being around him and he going to continue doing big things at Michigan.”
