Marquez Valdes-Scantling names who is more vocal as a quarterback out of Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs saw some of their good players and Super Bowl champions leave the squad this year…

Dismissals took place mainly to make way for more significant contracts for the stars and, of course, to follow the plan of action to try and secure the three-peat.

L’Jarius Sneed and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are the best known names within the squad who left KC and are now with the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills respectively.

Valdes-Scantling even scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. He was released a few weeks after the SB.

The tutors Valdes-Scantling has had since joining the NFL

Drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2018, the wide receiver began his NFL career alongside Aaron Rodgers, the veteran of veterans.

Over four years with the Winconsin team, he caught 123 receptions for 2,153 yards and scored 13 touchdowns.

In 2022, he signed with the Chiefs and won two Super Bowls in his two seasons as a member of the squad.

A funny fact about Valdes-Scantling: when he finished college, he didn’t want to play for any team that belonged to a very cold state (because he’s from Florida).

He ended up at two franchises with extremely freezing temperatures.

MVS compares leadership of Rodgers vs Mahomes

In an interview with The Herd with Colin Cowherd, MVS spoke about how rewarding it is for him to have had two such talented quarterbacks teaching him.

Analysing the style of the two signal-callers, the WR differentiated the way Rodgers leads compared to Mahomes.

“They are two different types of leaders. Pat’s a lot more vocal, you know, rally the team. Aaron’s more right in your face talk to you right in your face as opposed to the whole team. He goes to each individual, and Pat addresses the whole team. But they’re both great at what they do, they lead in different ways,”.

And then Valdes-Scantling brings up the similarities between the two, despite the age gap and time in the league.

“They’re both super competitive. I think that’s, you know, one of those things that, between those two guys, that’s the biggest similarity into them,” noted. “Obviously the arm talent and what they can do off schedule and the throws that they can make, but just the competitiveness that they both have, you know, I was grateful to have those two guys as my first two quarterbacks.”

Who’s the better deep ball thrower, Rodgers or Mahomes

Being a pass-catcher and having played with two elite QBs, MVS gets a bit of credit for “judging” the deep throws of his former teammates.

Mahomes is younger, so the statistics and physicality are probably in his favour, but the New York Jets quarterback has an excellent reputation.

“I think they both had different skill sets when it came to it,” he said. “Obviously I got Aaron in year, you know, 17 and Pat in year six. So Pat had a, a stronger arm when it came to it, but Aaron was just so pinpoint with everything that he did, you know – I think that the skill sets were just so different, but those two guys, man, it was great to be a part of that.”

Now at the Buffalo Bills, Valdes-Scantling soaks up some more knowledge from another top NFL signal-caller
