In Boston, a pair of former Pacific League stars squared off with San Diego Padres lefty Yuki Matsui retiring Boston Red Sox designated hitter Masataka Yoshida in the Padres' 11-1 victory.
Yoshida was hitless in three at-bats, while Matsui struck out two in a scoreless sixth. Matsui has not been charged with a run in his last 11 games.
