Report: Celtic show transfer interest in talented international forward

Celtic are casting the net far and wide to find new talents to freshen up Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

The Bhoys have yet to make a summer signing but with John Kennedy indicating that staff and the board are working hard behind the scenes to make deals happen, fans are hopeful some transfers will be over the line soon.

Buying in experienced, ready-to-go players for the first-team is the aim but Celtic will also be keeping an eye on young talents they can polish up over time to make an impact. Finding the right balance between those two profiles is always crucial.

Celtic were linked with talented Swedish teenager Pontus Dahbo earlier in the week after a breakout season at BK Hacken.

It seems another 18-year-old is also on the radar, this time from another continent.

Celtic ‘tracking’ Costa Rica star Andy Rojas

The Scottish Sun reports that Celtic are one of the teams showing interest in attacker Andy Rojas, who recently became Costa Rica’s youngest-ever performer at the Copa America tournament.

It’s thought that teams from Italy and the Netherlands are also keen on the Herediano teenager.

Club vice-president Aquil Ali reportedly said: “We’ve had conversations with people in Europe and I believe we’ll soon have something more concrete.”

Rojas scored ten goals in his break-out season at the club, which prompted his Costa Rica call-up. He can play as a winger or a central striking option.

Signing an emerging, talented teenager before cash-rich clubs make their move would be welcome as part of a wider transfer strategy. It’s a situation to watch over the coming weeks.
