Report: Arne Slot now wants to sign £7m Brazilian Feyenoord player for Liverpool, they have great relationship

Arne Slot is now considering a move to bring one of his old Feyenoord stars to Liverpool this summer.

There have already been reports of the Dutchman wanting to sign Justin Bijlow from the Eredivisie outfit with Adrian close to leaving Anfield – and also some doubts over Caoimhin Kelleher’s future at Anfield.

Now, Arne Slot is showing interest in bringing another Feyenoord player to Liverpool

Liverpool want Igor Paixao

A story from Globo Esporte now claims that Liverpool want to sign Feyenoord No.14 Igor Paixao.

The South American news outlet claim that the 24-year-old is being tracked by several big clubs from across Europe, with Liverpool one side considering a move.

Paixao – who Feyenoord signed from Coritiba for €8m (£7m) – even discussed these rumours in an interview with Globo Esporte, saying: “I only see this on social media. (The fans) don’t want me to leave Feyenoord, but it’s not up to me. Together with my business owners and board, we will decide the best path forward.

“I am listening and watching social media. Lots of people always tagging me and asking: are you going to Liverpool? I don’t know anything, I’m just waiting.”

Judging by those comments, the man from Macapa would consider leaving Feyenoord for Liverpool.

The Brazil U23 international also spoke about his relationship with Slot, and it seems like he has a lot of admiration for the 45-year-old.

Paixao said: “He also helped me when I arrived, in my development, and I felt like I was helping him. It’s good that everything worked out. He did an exceptional job with our squad. I just have to thank him and wish him success at Liverpool. He will be missed, but he has to keep working.”

Arne Slot could sign Brazilian as Anthony Gordon alternative

Paixao can play on the right wing – making nine appearances there last season – but he is predominantly a left forward, playing 36 games in that position last term.

That is the same area in which Newcastle No.10 Anthony Gordon operates, a player who Liverpool are currently in talks with the Magpies about signing.

That deal could still go through with Newcastle concerned about Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

However, if it collapses, we could then see a swoop for Paixao become more concrete as an alternative, given the fact both forwards play in the same position.
