Celtic look to be on the verge of losing another young talent to England

The Rocco Vata situation at Celtic appears to be reaching its conclusion after this latest update from Sky Sports’, Anthony Joseph.

The young Celtic winger must be the most talked about Hoops talent since Karamoko Dembele since he emerged from the Celtic academy.

Vata has been a sensation in the Celtic B team as his goalscoring exploits alerted clubs to his availability as his contract ran down.

The last update on the Republic of Ireland U21 told how Vata was in talks with Watford as they prepare for life in the English Championship.

And it seems now that those talks have advanced according to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph.

Rocco Vata ‘visits’ Watford as contract details emerge

It’s clear Watford is really keen on the 19-year-old attacker as Anthony Joseph’s update suggests:

With Celtic also keen on holding onto Vata, it remains to be seen whether the Scottish Champions can match or even better what is being offered down south.

As every fan knows, clubs in England’s second tier can easily match and even outstrip what Celtic can pay in wages so the Parkhead club could be up against it with their offer to Vata.

What the young winger needs to take into account is that he could choose to go and play in England’s second-tier and make a lot of money but he is hardly going to pick up any silverware at Watford.

Whereas at Celtic, Vata could win trophies, earn decent money and appear in the Champions League where, if he impresses, he could court the attention of clubs with a higher profile than Watford.

Now I have no idea what kind of money is on offer from the English club and I couldn’t sit and honestly say that if it was a significantly higher offer than what Celtic are offering I would knock it back.

But if Vata looks at youngsters like Vincent Angelini and Josh Adam who made the big move down south and who are both now free agents, sometimes the grass isn’t necessarily always greener when clubs from England come calling.
