BBC Sport pundit hails Arsenal star Kai Havertz and says he's ‘always going’ to do one thing

One pundit has now claimed that Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz will continue to do one thing for the rest of Euro 2024.

A number of Arsenal players remain in Germany, competing at Euro 2024.

Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice will all be part of the England squad that take on Slovakia in the Three Lions’ first knockout game later today. Meanwhile, William Saliba has now established himself as a regular starter for France.

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz has led the line effectively for the host nation, Germany, and got on the scoresheet last night as they secured passage to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Denmark in Dortmund.

The 25-year-old opened the scoring for Germany from the penalty spot, marking his second strike of the tournament so far. His first goal, in the opening game of the competition, also came via a penalty.

The Arsenal forward has provided a focal point at the top of the pitch for the national side, he offers intelligent movement, and creates opportunities for himself and others. Gary Lineker now believes that Havertz has established himself as an out-and-out striker.

After Mikel Arteta attempted to reinvent the former Chelsea star as a midfielder, before eventually unleashing him up front for the Gunners, it now seems clear that that is the role that suits him best.

However, for all of his qualities, the German media would still like to see Havertz be more clinical in front of goal from open play.

Chris Sutton makes Euro 2024 starting XI claim about Arsenal ace Kai Havertz

Despite this criticism, and the fact that Niclas Fullkrug has proven that he can score goals from the bench for Germany in this tournament, Chris Sutton can’t see Havertz losing his place in the starting XI at Euro 2024.

As quoted by BBC Sport, the pundit said: “Kai Havertz does so many great things. His movement is really important for the German team, but he does miss some easy chances. Havertz is always going to start in Julian Nagelsmann’s eyes.”

The role of Arsenal’s first choice centre-forward is also now Havertz’s to lose. Although Arteta is keen to sign a striker this summer, the 50-cap international will surely begin the upcoming domestic campaign as the top pick to lead the line for the North London club.

If he wants to cement that place in the team as his own for the long-term, though, then Havertz needs to become a more consistent goalscorer.
