Douglas Luiz’s first words as a Juventus player after completing Aston Villa exit

Douglas Luiz’s time at Aston Villa has come to an end as the Brazilian was unveiled as a Juventus player on Sunday afternoon.

After a long transfer saga involving several players, Douglas Luiz has officially departed Aston Villa after five years.

The Brazilian has joined Juventus as part of a deal involving Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea after weeks of speculation.

Unai Emery and Monchi had their hands tied to some degree when it came to selling Luiz, who was offloaded for profit to ultimately ease Villa’s PSR concerns.

Now, the moment that fans have been dreading has arrived, as the 26-year-old announced himself as a Juventus player.

Douglas Luiz shares first message as a Juventus player after Aston Villa exit

Despite being in the United States with the Brazilian national team at the Copa America, Luiz underwent a medical with Juventus representatives in attendance.

Now that the move has been finalised, the Serie A club shared a video of the former Villa star as he addressed Juventus fans for the first time.

Wearing a Juventus training shirt, the Brazilian said his first words after the transfer was announced.

“Hello Juventini, I’m really happy to be a Bianconero and I can’t wait to play in the Allianz Stadium. See you soon and Forza Juve.”

Although the transfer had been expected for a long period of time this summer, Villa fans will still be suffering after seeing Emery’s prized midfielder in another club’s kit.

Luiz departure will allow Villa to move on in the transfer window

While it’s a great shame for the Midlands club to have to part ways with Luiz in such circumstances, the move was integral for Villa to avoid a PSR breach.

Not many would have wanted to see the Brazilian move on before Villa’s Champions League campaign however, it’s not all bad news for Emery’s side.

As part of the transfer, the arrivals of Iling-Junior and Barrenechea will soon be announced, as Emery has acquired two top young talents to integrate to his squad.

As well as the two arrivals from Juventus, Villa can now operate the market more freely, as the club have generated sufficient profit from sales to see the PSR cloud clear for now.

In what is a regrettable goodbye, Villa will now wish Luiz all the best in his endeavours in Turin as Emery and Monchi get to work at eyeing a replacement for the tremendous midfielder.
