The atmosphere in Belgium's camp is excellent despite modest performances so far at Euro 2024, coach Domenico Tedesco said on the eve of Monday's last 16 clash with France.

The players were jeered off the pitch by their fans after a 0-0 draw with Ukraine in the final group match which came after an opening 1-0 defeat against Slovakia and a 2-0 victory over Romania.

Tedesco said the only negative issues are coming from outside while the squad spirit has been great from the outset.

"I must say that the atmosphere has been fantastic from day one. We have fun being together, we enjoy being together," he said.

Kevin de Bruyne's Belgium and pre-tournament favourites France led by Kylian Mbappe both finished second in their groups to set up the Düsseldorf date, and they have each only scored two goals.

Belgium have been wasteful in all games, and their star striker Romelu Lukaku also had three goals disallowed upon video review.

Tedesco will be hoping for a more ruthless display against Les Bleus but he also highlighted that his players were able to create chances in the first place.

"I think that the quantity and quality of the chances we had in the first three matches was outstanding," Tedesco said.
