Pundit says £50m Man City star looked like 'he has forgotten how to play football' during England vs Slovakia

Jamie O’Hara was very critical of one Manchester City player for his display in an England shirt during their 2-1 win against Slovakia.

Gareth Southgate’s side looked like they were set to crash out of the European Championship, courtesy of an opener from Ivan Schranz.

However, Jude Bellingham came to the rescue for England, scoring a remarkable overhead kick to score a 95th-minute equaliser. Harry Kane joined the party soon after, heading in the winning goal one minute into extra time.

Kyle Walker, Phil Foden and John Stones would have breathed collective sighs of relief to see the Three Lions book their place in the quarter-finals against Switzerland.

Jamie O’Hara blasts Kyle Walker as England beat Slovakia

The Manchester City trident kept their places in the side, starting every game in the competition so far.

However, Foden was hooked off late into the game, with Ivan Toney coming in for him.

Jamie O’Hara singled England vice-captain Walker out for criticism for his showing against Slovakia during talkSPORT’s (30/06/2024, 5:29pm) live watchalong.

The pundit said: “He looks like he has forgotten how to play football. Every single time he touches it, it seems he is going to give it away.”

Kyle Walker had a game to forget

In fairness to Jamie O’Hara, it is tough to disagree about how poor Walker was for England against Slovakia.

The £50 million man struggled in all departments of his game.

Defensively, Dávid Hancko often gave him problems with his raw pace and excellent carrying of the ball.

In possession as well, Walker often played a combination of overhit and misplaced passes and much like in previous outings at Euro 2024, he took excessive touches.

During extra time, the 34-year-old did redeem himself in some capacity by making important clearances and showcasing his calmness under pressure.

But all in all, Walker perhaps had his most disappointing night from an individual standpoint under Gareth Southgate’s reign.

Whether the City legend’s underwhelming showing could lead to him losing his place in the side will be interesting to see.
