'Hold on!' CNN host confronts GOP insider with poll suggesting Trump should drop out

CNN screen grab

Republican operative Scott Jennings was using a recent poll to push Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, but CNN host and journalist Alisyn Camerota showed him that the same poll suggests Donald Trump should drop out, too.

Democratic strategist Maria Cardona and Jennings appeared on CNN Sunday, where they debated the importance and impact of Biden's dismal debate performance on Thursday. They were also asked about reports that Biden is isolated from some White House aides.

"Reporters are looking for any kind of breathless reporting on what happens behind the scenes," Cardona said.

Jennings said Biden can't win the election, and condemned people within the White House for purportedly keeping Biden's health under wraps.

Toward the end of the discussion, Jennings pointed to a poll that showed 72% of respondents believed Biden isn't up to the job. Earlier in the day, Democrats celebrated that same YouGov poll, which reportedly showed that, of registered Democrats, 55% think Biden should keep running, while 45% say that he should "step aside."

Camerota was on a deadline to end the segment, but she ultimately tells Cardona to "Hold on!" as she confronts Jennings with the Trump side of the same YouGov poll.

She pulled up graphics about the poll, including the section showing that 54% of registered voters said Trump shouldn't run.
