Blue Chips: Intel on Top 100 Michigan target DB Jordan Young

*** Michigan hosted Top 100 Monroe (N.C.) High safety Jordan Young for an official visit for Victors Weekend. Young has been pretty quiet about his trip. However, he did have this to say about his time in Ann Arbor: “Visiting the Michigan football program was an unforgettable experience, marked by the impressive facilities and rich history showcased at the stadium. Meeting the coaching staff and players provided a personal glimpse into the team’s dedication and camaraderie. The look at the training facilities, highlighted the program’s commitment to excellence. Overall, the visit left a lasting impression of a top-tier football environment steeped in tradition and excellence.”

*** That quote doesn’t share much about Michigan’s standing with Young. I do still feel like the Wolverines are in the Top 4. However, from talking to those around the program, there is a feeling that more work needs to be done. Clemson has the buzz in this recruitment, and I would currently favor the Tigers here. Florida State is probably the second place team. Young originally planned to make his decision in October, but there have been some whispers that he could move up his timeline. If he does, I believe that would favor Clemson and Florida State. Michigan needs him to take his time and probably get him back to campus.

*** As mentioned earlier today, I put in an On3 Prediction for Notre Dame to land Top 100 Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor safetyJaDon Blair. Michigan is very pessimistic there. With Blair likely to land in South Bend and Young still seemingly favoring Clemson, Michigan is going to keep making a strong push for Top 100 Notre Dame commit Ivan Taylor. Notre Dame has a very crowded secondary class, and Taylor is obviously looking around. I checked in with Tim Watts from our Alabama site, and there doesn’t seem to be a true feeling about the Taylor recruitment. The same goes from me and Michigan. Taylor is keeping things super close to the vest and has a fluid decision timeline.

*** Three-star Fleming Island (Fla.) High cornerback Kaylib Singleton committed to Rutgers this month and canceled his official visit to Michigan. However, I am told that Singleton is looking to make an unofficial visit to Michigan for the BBQ at The Big House. That visit is not set in stone, but it’s interesting that he’s taking another look at U-M. Perhaps he committed to Rutgers too quickly.
