Report: European club working 'behind scenes' for Leeds star that Ethan Ampadu calls 'snake hips'

Leeds United are expected to cash in on a number of key players this summer with Archie Gray looking set to join Tottenham, and he could be joined by another key Elland Road midfielder.

Gray looks likely to complete a move to Spurs to allow the club to comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules. A deal is expected to be worth north of £40m, after Leeds decided to reject Brentford’s first bid.

But the 18-year-old wonderkid is unlikely to be the only sale Leeds make this summer. Plenty of players have been linked, including the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and Ilia Gruev.

Now, reports from France suggest a Ligue 1 club are working hard ‘behind the scenes’ to try and bring a 28-year-old Leeds star across the channel, despite the player only moving to Elland Road a year ago.

Stade Rennais want to raid Leeds and sign Glen Kamara

The Finland midfielder was excellent for Leeds in his first full season for the club after joining from Scottish side Rangers in a £5m deal last summer. The former Arsenal academy star played 42 matches.

While Daniel Farke constantly rotated his midfield partner – starting with Ethan Ampadu, on occasion teenage sensation Gray and in the second half of the season, Gruev – Kamara was always a constant.

That form has not gone unnoticed. Nicknamed “snake hips” by Ampadu, Kamara is a target for Rennes according to L’Equipe as the French club look to bring in a top replacement for Roma-bound Enzo Le Fee.

Rennes have been long-term admirers of Leeds star Kamara

Losing Kamara would be a blow when the club are actively trying to bring in replacements for those that look more likely to go, or already have done. But if a quick profit can be made, then there is a chance.

Rennes will have money to spend when Le Fee is sold to Roma. Kamara was bought for a relatively cheap sum of £5m, and his value will have increased even if the Whites failed to gain promotion to the top tier.

One thing is clear, and that is that Rennes are long-term admirers of Kamara. While at Rangers, Rennes showed interest in signing Kamara with a move to France always a possibility and now, it may happen.
