What Daichi Kamada said about Oliver Glasner after reunion with 49-year-old at Crystal Palace is announced

Crystal Palace have announced their second signing of the summer transfer window, landing Daichi Kamada from Lazio.

Kamada, 27, has enjoyed a growing reputation in Europe ever since he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017.

In his six-year spell in the Bundesliga, the playmaker won a Europa League trophy and a DFB Pokal before making the switch to Lazio in 2023.

His one season in Italy saw his team finish seventh and confirmed a place in the Europa League for the next season.

However, with a move to Selhurst Park on offer, the Japanese international quickly waved farewell to Serie A in favour of the Premier League.

Not only will it bring new horizons for Kamada, but it also allows for a reunion with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner.

Daichi Kamada’s first words on Crystal Palace transfer

The deal for Kamada has been confirmed, making him Crystal Palace’s second signing of the summer after Chadi Riad.

The 27-year-old has plenty of experience at the top of the game as he nears the peak years of his career.

It’s something that Crystal Palace will look to tap into, with hopes that they can do more than just survive another year in the top division.

If anyone knows how to get a tune out of Kamada though, it’s Glasner, who previously worked with the midfielder at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The new Eagles star was a key part of the side that won the Europa League under the head coach before they parted ways.

Speaking to the official Crystal Palace website, Kamada discussed that reunion, saying: “I’m excited to be joining Crystal Palace, and to be working with Oliver [Glasner] – who is a coach I know well – again.

“I am looking forward to testing myself in the Premier League, and hopefully the club and I can achieve all of our objectives together.”

What to expect from new Crystal Palace signing Daichi Kamada

With new signings, it can often be hard to tell exactly how they will fit into the team, but Kamada could be easier to understand.

Under Glasner, the playmaker has previously played in an attacking midfield role, taking up positions in pockets of space with particular ease.

The 27-year-old’s ability to find this space makes him invaluable to a team, often creating other areas for teammates to drift into.

Kamada is more than comfortable using both of his feet, making it tough for defenders to predict exactly what his next move is.

With an ability to dribble well and create chances for others, the midfielder is likely to be an important part of Glasner’s plans.
