Joe Rodon position

Throughout his career, Rodon has played in defence for his team, often occupying centre-back or right-back on the pitch.

The defender is comfortable on the left or right, despite being mainly right-footed, adding plenty of versatility to the setup.

Rodon’s career path

Rodon made his way through the Swansea City academy, progressing the ranks until he became a first-team name on a regular occasion.

Some impressive performances for the Swans eventually saw the defender seal an £11million – rising to £15million with add-ons – move to Tottenham in 2020.

Rodon went on to make 24 appearances for Spurs but soon found himself out of the picture, joining Stade Rennais on loan.

Following that campaign in France, the defender then joined Leeds for the 2023/24 Championship season.

In that time, Rodon made 50 appearances for Leeds across all competitions – just four behind his most-represented club in Swansea.

Style of play

Rodon is a ball-playing defender who is more than comfortable in and out of possession for whichever team he plays.

While the centre-back is predominantly right-footed, he is capable of passing out with his left and opening new angles.

In the defensive phase, Rodon is aerially dominant and possesses the strength and pace necessary for any action that is required.

Joe Rodon to Leeds United transfer

With his loan season coming to an end, there has naturally been plenty of talk surrounding whether Rodon can make the return to Leeds.

Reports have claimed that Ipswich are among those who have shown transfer interest in Rodon during the summer transfer window.

However, according to new information, Leeds are set for Rodon to make a return on a permanent deal with Archie Gray joining Tottenham in return – plus a transfer fee.

It remains to be seen whether that move will be sealed, however, the defender has already hinted at his desire for a move.

Speaking to the Daily Mail before Leeds United’s play-off final against Southampton, Rodon said on his future: “It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season.

“I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know what can happen in football.

“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now.

“I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs.”
