Report: Leeds player's exit is 'imminent' and he won't be at training today, will leave club for nearly £4m

Leeds United are about to announce the permanent sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur but he might not be the only sale The Whites make on Monday.

Gray is set to join Tottenham in a £40m deal, while Joe Rodon will return to Elland Road in a separate £10m transfer. It sees Leeds re-sign Rodon while also avoiding a breach of Profit & Sustainability Rules.

The 49ers and the Leeds transfer department have been working hard on getting rid of a number of players before the squad return to pre-season training today, with others joining Gray in departing.

Jack Harrison, Marc Roca and Sonny Perkins have all left, as have plenty of Leeds players who are out of contract. The likes of Liam Cooper, Cody Drameh and Jamie Shackleton are technically free agents now.

But another is about to depart for less than £4m, one that had a disagreement with Daniel Farke earlier in the season about his lack of game time.

Charlie Cresswell’s £3.8m Leeds United exit is now ‘imminent’

You could count on one hand the amount of times Charlie Cresswell played for Leeds last season. The England U21 defender hardly got a chance, which was a surprise given the hype after his Millwall loan.

Having starred on loan at the London club, relegation looked as though it would suit the centre-back. However, Cresswell failed to have any kind of impact during 2023-24 despite signing a new Leeds deal.

As Leeds try to get players out of the door, Thorp Arch product Cresswell is to join Gray in leaving Leeds at some point on Monday or perhaps slightly later in the week according to a report from Leeds Live.

Cresswell will be missing from day one of pre-season training

Indeed, Leeds Live report that players are back at Thorp Arch and Leeds Beckett for testing today. The players not involved in international duty will be present including Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto.

Gray is not going to be present given he is in London undergoing a medical at Spurs and Cresswell is no different. He will not be at training today as he edges closer to joining Ligue 1 side Toulouse for £3.8m.

Cresswell is actually in France having jetted out on Sunday according to Adam Pope, travelling across the Channel to be welcomed by his new club with a deal described as imminent and medical underway.
