It’s 20 minutes from the Shore, but this home for sale feels like it’s in the Adirondacks

The home sits on 2.5 acres that back to Mill Pond.

This custom-designed South Jersey home is private, sits on a pond and is only 20 minutes from Atlantic City.

But it feels like you’re tucked into the mountains.

It’s a huge, 6,000 square foot home with four bedrooms, three full and one half bathroom in Port Republic. And it sits on a 2.5 acre lot. It’s listed for $1,100,000.

“It feels like you’re in your own little oasis,” said Emily Wilkins of Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty, the listing agent.

The home sits on Mill Pond, a private pond with a creek and trails around it and a beach. The neighborhood is dotted with small cabins and large homes on big lots. Many homes on the pond have docks and residents get around the neighborhood on golf carts.

“It almost feels like you’re in the Adirondacks or the Catskills,” she said. “If you moved this there it would be a multi-million dollar home. So there is a lot of value.”

The home was built by the sellers in 2010 on land they’ve owned since the 1980s. “They took their time with the plans,” Wilkins said.

When you walk in the front door you’re greeted by a wide staircase. A few steps up is the main great room — an open living room, dining room, kitchen and breakfast nook. “The views are just amazing,” she said. “There’s water from every angle.”

There’s one bedroom on the main floor, a side entrance, a sunroom and another large room. “There’s so much space to customize, whether you want a home gym or an in-law area,” Wilkins said.

The other three bedrooms are on the second floor, including the primary, which has a huge walk-in closet that can be a dressing room, a balcony overlooking the pond, a double-sided fireplace and a jetted tub in the ensuite bathroom that also over looks the pond.

The walk-out basement level has a full bar and a large entertainment area.

A hidden wine cellar under the front stairs, a laundry shoot that can drop clothes from the top floor into the laundry room and a green on the dock to hit biodegradable golf balls are just some of the unique touches, she said.

Wilkins said she thinks the buyer for the home will be someone shopping for a second home or who needs lots of space for family and entertaining.

“You can wake up and have coffee there in the peaceful backyard, go paddle boarding and have a glass of wine at sunset,” Wilkins said. “And all of the nightlife and the rest of the shore and Atlantic City are a short drive away.”

“It’s a really cool community.”
