After taking Ryan Sessegnon on trial, Crystal Palace are now pushing hard to sign £8m player - journalist

After taking Ryan Sessegnon on trial and announcing the arrival of Daichi Kamada, Crystal Palace are now pushing hard to sign another player.

It has been a speedy start to the summer transfer window for Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman.

Crystal Palace wrapped up an early £15m deal to sign Chadi Riad from Real Betis as a replacement for James Tomkins, before announcing Daichi Kamada‘s arrival on a free transfer earlier on Monday.

Another free agent in Ryan Sessegnon is currently training with Crystal Palace at Copers Cope, and with talks ongoing between the left-back and Dougie Freedman, a separate deal is now happening in the background…

Crystal Palace pushing to sign Aster Vranckx

A story from Sacha Tavolieri now states that Crystal Palace are pushing hard to sign VfL Wolfsburg No.6 Aster Vranckx.

The Belgian journalist believes the Belgium international – who is currently away at Euro 2024 – is ready to sign a contract with Crystal Palace which runs until the summer of 2029.

Tavolieri adds that Crystal Palace are happy to pay VfL Wolfsburg’s €10m (£8m) asking price, so talks with Vranckx regarding personal terms are set to intensify across the next 24 hours.

The 21-year-old made 24 Bundesliga appearances last season playing in central midfield for VfL Wolfsburg, who loaned the Belgian to AC Milan for the 2022/23 campaign.

What could the Belgium international bring to Selhurst Park?

In our view, this is more a case of Freedman capitalising on a market opportunity rather than the Glaswegian feeling that Oliver Glasner’s central midfield department is weak.

Vranckx might struggle for action with Adam Wharton, Cheick Doucoure, Jefferson Lerma, Will Hughes, Naouirou Ahamada and David Ozoh already at Selhurst Park, although the VfL Wolfsburg No.6 only has 12 months remaining on his contract, hence the low £8m fee.

If a deal to sign the man from Kortenberg does materialise, he would bring plenty of power and skill to Glasner’s midfield.

In their official announcement of his arrival, AC Milan even compared Vranckx to Kevin De Bruyne, as he possesses plenty of creativity, but also the upper body strength to be an imposing figure physically.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Sessegnon and Vranckx could soon follow Kamada and Riad to Crystal Palace…
