Nine more children have been successfully returned to the territory under Ukrainian control from the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
"Nine children from temporarily occupied communities in Kherson region have been successfully returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory," Prokudin reported.
According to him, four families, raising four boys and five girls, were evacuated from the occupation. The youngest child is 8 months old, and the oldest is 17 years old.
"Currently, the children are safe with their parents, recovering from the horrors they endured during the Russian occupation," added the head of the regional administration.
Prokudin noted that the rescue of Ukrainians became possible thanks to the persistent efforts of the charity organization Save Ukraine.
He also mentioned that since the beginning of 2024, 139 children have been returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory from occupied parts of the Kherson region.
Deportation of Ukrainian children
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russians has been mass deporting Ukrainian children to Belarus, Russia, and occupied Crimea. They also detain Ukrainians in temporarily occupied territories.
According to ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Russia has illegally deported over 19,000 Ukrainian children.
The deportation of Ukrainian children was the reason for the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice for the arrest of Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, the authorized representative for children's rights in Russia.
