Report: Celtic find out the bargain transfer fee needed to sign in-demand attacking talent

Celtic have yet to make their first signing of the summer transfer window but the club continue to be linked to a variety of talents around the world.

The goalkeeping position is the top priority after the retirement of Joe Hart with Peter Vindahl Jensen and Martin Dubravka the most reported on options from a list of 20 in total.

However, other areas of the pitch could do with strengthening too. A left-back is undoubtedly needed alongside other defensive options, midfielders and attackers.

Over the weekend, it emerged that one forward Celtic are showing interest in is Costa Rica international Andy Rojas.

Still just 18, he recently became the youngest player to ever represent his country at the Copa America tournament.

Celtic wouldn’t have to pay much for Andy Rojas

More details have now emerged about a potential deal with Football Scotland reporting he would only cost around £800,000 to bring to Glasgow, despite being wanted by multiple clubs.

It’s said the in-demand teenager has interest from across Europe. Clubs from Mexico and MLS are also reportedly keen on his signature.

Given his lack of experience, Rojas may well be a slow-burn signing that would take time to progress to consistent first-team standard but if he is available so cheaply then it’d be silly for Celtic not to take a look.

With Costa Rican club Herediano expected to be fielding bids soon, it looks as though Celtic will be keen to register their interest – especially as the player himself has a desire to make a big move to Europe.

Experienced, quality players are wanted by Brendan Rodgers but that will always be balanced by the club looking for young options with potential – even more so if they are already showing enough progress to win international caps.
