Jamarion Batemon, a four-star shooting guard in the 2025 class, has committed to Iowa State and head coach T.J. Otzelberger, he told On3.

The 6-foot-3 rising senior out of Milwaukee Academy of Science (WI) chose the Cyclones over a final group of Marquette, Clemson, and West Virginia.

According to On3’s Top-150 Player Rankings, Batemon is ranked as the No. 51 overall recruit in the 2025 class. He’s also the No. 12 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Wisconsin.

Batemon on his commitment to Iowa State

Jamarion Batemon went in-depth on his decision to choose Iowa State with On3.

“I just felt that (Iowa State) was the right place and the right fit. They fit my competitive nature and I love their environment. They (coaching staff) were very consistent in showing what they wanted. They were at every live period, came to workouts and practices to show their commitment.”

In his own words, what type of player is Iowa State getting in Batemon?

“First just as a competitor, a very good shooter who can score at all three levels and a very good defender who does all the little things.”

Batemon has a message for Cyclones fans.

“I’m here to bring Ames a championship!”

Scouting Report

“Jamarion Batemon is a bonafide shot maker. Standing in the 6-foot-3 range, the scoring guard has long arms and twitchy athleticism. He also carries the utmost confidence from deep. Batemon has a quick release with good footwork. He is able to get his shoulders squared and eyes on the rim in a hurry. He plays with good balance and the shot load is consistent and release is quick. Batemon is consistent shooting off movement or stepping into a shot off the bounce or with his feet set. He will need to continue working on his handle, getting north south off the bounce with some wiggle, but his shooting is the super power here. He will need to continue fine tuning his shot selection, and a lot of that will have to do with finding his spots on the floor and utilizing his footwork and cuts to get there. There is upside on defense as he can guard the ball and has some instincts in the passing lanes. Batemon is averaging over 10 threes attempted per game on the Adidas 3SSB 17u Circuit and he is knocking them down at a 44+ percent clip.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
