Inter Miami are reportedly ready to rival multiple Saudi Arabian sides for a free-agent player currently impressing at Euro 2024.

The Herons are set for a big summer in the transfer market with a number of impressive names linked with a move to Inter Miami, including former France international Raphael Varane, as well as Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus.

With Nicolas Freire out injured for the remainder of the year, though, adding to the defense is a priority for Inter Miami, who heading into the second-half of the season will need reinforcements if they’re to challenge for MLS Cup at the end of the year.

Inter Miami join race to sign Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Inter Miami are one of many teams interested in Switzerland defender Ricardo Rodriguez, who is now a free-agent having left Torino at the end of his contract this summer.

Schira posted: “Many clubs have shown interest in Ricardo Rodriguez as a free agent. Al-Hilal, Hajduk Split, Inter Miami, Augsburg, Al-Shabab and Besitkas have asked info for the Swiss player.”

Playing in every game for the Swiss this summer at Euro 2024, Rodriguez is a name that many European soccer fans will be familiar with the 31-year-old having been a star for Torino as well as Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

And for Inter Miami, the versatile defender, who is naturally a left-back but has in recent years evolved into a center-back for club and country, Rodriguez could be the perfect fit to replace the injured Freire this summer.

Rodriguez could be a dream defensive signing for the Herons

With Rodriguez 31-years-old and now converted into a center-back, the Swiss international ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to what Inter Miami are looking for in central defensive signing this summer.

Given that the Swiss international has a lower reputation than the likes of Varane, Inter Miami could also find it easier to striker a deal for Rodriguez that would fit within their current salary structure.

Indeed, beating competition from Europe and Saudi Arabia will be tricky, but with Inter Miami one of the most exciting projects in soccer, Rodriguez could be tempted with a move to Florida if the right circumstances are met.
