President Joe Biden has stated that the Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity has set a dangerous precedent that could turn presidents into kings. He urged the American people not to accept the idea of supporting Donald Trump in elections, reports Reuters.

President Biden believes that the court's decision means there is little likelihood that Trump will face court before the November 5 election for his role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

The court ruled that Trump cannot be held accountable for any actions that fall within his constitutional powers as president but can be held accountable for private actions.

At the same time, in a landmark ruling, the court recognized any form of presidential immunity from judicial prosecution for the first time.

"This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America. Each, each of us is equal before the law. No one, no one is above the law. Not even the president of the US," Biden said.

He believes the court's decision means there are now practically no limits on what the president can do.

"It's a dangerous precedent, because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law. The only limits will be self-imposed by the president alone," Biden said.

The US Supreme Court recognized that former US President Donald Trump had immunity while in office. But this applies only to official decisions.
