Heacham witch Claire Brett getting ready to open business Practical Magick in Snettisham’s old sorting office

Tarot readings, mediumship and workshops will be on offer as a new witchcraft business is preparing to open up in a coastal village.

The Practical Magick Emporium has moved into its new home in Snettisham, where it will also sell handmade products including bespoke intention candles and more.

Located in the village’s former sorting office on Alma Road, 45-year-old owner Claire Brett hopes to be set up and ready to go by around July 15.

The support officer from Heacham says that she has known she was different since she was a young child and it wasn’t until she got into her teenage years that she was told she was “connected” to spirits.

Claire, who describes herself as a “practising witch”, says she can “see, hear, smell and feel spirits” around her and has been reading tarot cards for 30 years.

Practical Magick has been running since February this year at fairs all over Norfolk and Cambridgeshire with the help of Claire’s husband Daren Brett and Maddie Thurston.

“I made candles and stuff years ago but nothing like I make now,” she said.

“I wasn’t looking for a property to take on but I was shopping in Hunstanton with Daren and I decided to pop into the agents and it was there, I knew it was exactly what I wanted.”

However, her unique products are not the only things she has to offer, as Claire aims to have weekly workshops in the building for all types of interests.

The property will allow for the business to host workshops and create more of its handmade products

Whether it’s macramé, sea glass artistry, make-up or facials, the Heacham-raised business owner wants to create “somewhere the community can come over and try different things”.
