Ian Wright sends message to Arsenal transfer target after what he did at Euro 2024, he loved it

Iconic former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has lauded one Mikel Arteta transfer target on social media after his latest Euro 2024 display.

Ian Wright has been impressed by one Arsenal target recently.

A number of players who have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer are currently plying their trade at Euro 2024. Mikel Arteta will surely be keeping tabs on all of these potential acquisitions.

For instance, Nico Williams impressed for Spain against Georgia last night. Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has now urged Arteta to launch a move for Williams.

On top of that, Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has caught the eye in Germany as part of an otherwise struggling Belgium side.

However, it is a member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad who caught Wright’s eye on Sunday evening, as the Three Lions needed extra time to labour to a 2-1 win over a Slovakia and secure their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright hails Eberechi Eze after England beat Slovakia

Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze did not start for England against Slovakia. The attacking-midfielder was not introduced to the fray until the 84th minute. However, as the game went to extra time, the 26-year-old ended up getting a significant run out.

After England took the lead in the second minute of extra time, it was Slovakia’s turn to press forward. At this stage, Eze was tasked with adopting a left-wing-back role, with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka taking up a similar position on the opposite flank.

As Wright had previously predicted he might, Saka actually spent a portion of this game playing at left-back, following an injury to Kieran Trippier.

Eze worked hard in this relatively unfamiliar role, and was tidy on the ball. After the final whistle, he took to Instagram to post a series of photographs from the game.

Wright responded to this post with nine clapping hands emojis.

What would Eze bring to Arsenal?

Eze is a versatile player, as he proved on Sunday. He is comfortable operating centrally, or on the flanks, primarily the left. This means that he would provide an option for the Gunners as a left-eight, or as cover out wide.

Were he to play more centrally, he would add guile and creativity of the sort that Gabriel Martinelli lacked to work with last season. Eze could certainly help the Brazilian get back to his best in North London.
