French media have given their verdict on Arsenal defender William Saliba’s latest performances at Euro 2024 against Belgium.

Les Bleus booked their ticket to the quarter-finals of the European championship with a comfortable yet forgettable 1-0 win against the Red Devils, with France again needing a lucky own goal to secure the victory at the Euros.

Saliba was once again named in central defence with the Arsenal star firmly establishing himself as part of France’s new-look backline, with the 23-year-old seemingly replacing Ibrahima Konate for good under Didier Deschamps.

It’s becoming something of a trend at this summer’s Euros from the French media to praise Saliba after every game, and yesterday’s win was again no exception for the Arsenal defender.

Foot Mercato were also incredibly generous on Saliba’s display, with the French publication announcing that the Arsenal defender ‘asserted himself as France’s defensive leader for the rest of the tournament and in the future’.

Finally, Goal lauded Saliba for his performance for France, with the 23-year-old praised for looking as good for Les Bleus as he does for Arsenal, where last season the defender was arguably the best in the Premier League throughout the entire campaign.

Saliba now has to be considered one of the best in the world

Arsenal fans are already firmly on the Saliba hype train, with supporters of the north London side well aware of just how good the 23-year-old is and how far the defender can go at his current development trajectory.

And this Euros is now starting to show the world just how good Saliba really is, with the youngster now easily in the conversation for one of the best centre-backs in the world after his exploits out in Germany with France.

Indeed, the French media are obsessed with Saliba, and with a quarter-final appearance on the horizon, the Arsenal star will want to keep this form going in Les Bleus’ bid to win the Euros for the first time since 2000.
