Callum McGregor signals intention to build on unique Treble record at Celtic

Callum McGregor, Celtic and silverware are three words that directly correlate when discussing his career at Parkhead.

The 31-year-old is now on 22 winners’ medals since breaking through to the senior side in 2014, and he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down in his hunt for further trophies.

McGregor encountered injury issues last term; nevertheless, he returned in time for the run-in despite the risks of doing so, driving home his untameable commitment to lead from the front and succeed on the pitch.

Now one of the elder statesmen in the side, despite only being 31, his experience and know-how are two invaluable qualities needed for the forthcoming campaign. He has now vowed to try and build on a unique record he holds in the football world.

Speaking to The Celtic View, McGregor has set his sights on winning another Treble this term, which would prolong his record as the player with the most in world football, five to be precise.

Opening up on his quest for a sixth, he stated: “Once we come back for pre-season, the remit will be to try and get three more (trophies).”

“So that’s where we are, that’s what the club demands. It’s in the DNA of the club now and let’s see if we can go and get more next season.”

McGregor just loves winning trophies; there is not much else to say. The Scotland international has been a vital part of the Bhoys’ modern-day domination of the domestic landscape, refusing to be beaten even when others have tried to knock the reigning champions off their perch

Whether that happens again this campaign remains to be seen; for now, he will be enjoying some time recuperating following Scotland’s exit from Euro 2024.

Make no mistake though, when the competitive action starts up, McGregor will be back to full tilt and setting standards as per usual.
