The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy has appointed the new Ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa.

"Congratulations to Carlo Formosa, new Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine," the message says.

From January 2020 to April 2024, Carlo Formosa held the position of Ambassador of Italy to Portugal. In July 2024, he began his diplomatic mission in Ukraine, succeeding Pier Francesco Zazo in this position.

Italy's aid to Ukraine

Italy continues to provide military aid to Ukraine, recently approving the extension of arms supplies until the end of 2024. In total, Italy provided Ukraine with 8 packages of military aid, including anti-aircraft missiles, artillery, armored vehicles, and ammunition.

Italian instructors teach Ukrainian soldiers to use Western weapons. Although Italy does not disclose the exact types and quantities of weapons provided, it plays a significant role in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.

It was previously reported that Italy would transfer SAMP/T to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package.
