Yattendon Classic Car Show makes roaring return for ninth year

A classic vehicle show returned for its ninth year at the weekend.

About 700 people came to browse 480 classic vehicles in the fields opposite St Peter's & St Paul's Church and at Yattendon Garage on Sunday (June 30).

From vintage motorbikes to old fire engines, there was plenty for visitors travelling from far and wide to explore.

“We had more vehicles than ever before,” said organiser, Lyn Mistry.

“Although everything and everyone was coming in so thick and fast, we had no time to actually do any counting.”

“The variety of cars was amazing,” she added.

“So many people remarked on this and how nice it was to see so many unusual cars all mixed up together.”

The total is still being calculated, but organisers estimate the event raised £4,000 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Several car clubs also attended including the Rolls Royce Club, White Horse Car Club and Thames Valley Morgans to name a few.

The winners of Best in Show, as chosen by Lord Iliffe, were a fire engine, a lime green Vespa and a Wolseley.

Prizes were generously supplied by Yattendon Estate.
