North Runcton U11 Raiders beat Downham Stow counterparts

North Runcton’s U11 Raiders beat Downham Stow by 81 runs in a 20-over match.

There were contributions all round from the batters against the best bowling team the Runcton youngsters have faced this season.

Toby Ring scored 18 not out from 13 balls, Teddy Defty 16 not out from 12 and Max Hawkins 13 not out off 15.

North Runcton Raiders

Runcton lost five wickets in total with their batters having to find new ways of scoring on the off side because of the accurate bowling on show by Downham Stow.

During the fielding innings, North Runcton took a record-high 13 wickets. Ring took two catches in a row to leave Henry Cain on a hat-trick and also superbly ran a batter out with a stunning one-hand pick and dive in the same over.

Theo Cain got his first wicket for the club in a hardball fixture with some accurate bowling.

Defty bowled rockets that were unplayable at times and Solly Edwards was as accurate and deadly as ever. Star of the show was Max Hawkins who got five wickets in six balls during his second over to record figures of 5-8.
