Daizen Maeda's class Instagram post with former Celtic coach while back in Japan

Celtic winger Daizen Maeda has established himself as a fan favourite since joining the club from Yokohama F.Marinos back in January 2022.

Maeda has become a key player under Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers due to his striking instincts and unique work rate, registering 29 goals and 16 assists in 107 appearances [Transfermarkt].

Over the summer, he was involved with Japan on international duty, featuring in a wing-back slot during last month. It was intriguing to see Hajime Moriyasu tap into his defensive capabilities, though perhaps not surprising, factoring in his desire to graft tirelessly on the pitch.

Engaging in a host of other activities during the break, Maeda also helped to coach children in a clinic with former club Matsumoto Yamaga FC, inspiring the next generation of footballing talent in his homeland.

On his travels, the winger has also bumped into former Celtic coach Harry Kewell while visiting Yokohama F. Marinos.

Taking to Instagram, the Celtic hero posted a picture with Kewell accompanied by a caption that read: ‘Thank You @yokohamaf.marinos’ alongside two other photos with his child.

It must be said, his hairstyle has fairly changed in the past few months from the shaved head Celtic fans all grew to love; however, it is great to see Maeda enjoying some quality time with friends and family before the new campaign kicks in at Parkhead.

Now set to be in his third season at the club, the 26-year-old will have designs on adding to his six winners’ medals in Scotland, helping to build a legacy of silverware established by the experienced core of this side.

Hopefully, he can come back fit and firing for Celtic as they eye another successful campaign under Rodgers.
