Report: Lopetegui can now bring game-changing attacker to West Ham for bargain £12.7m fee

West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui can strike a bargain deal for a top-class forward this summer.

Julen Lopetegui has already started his summer rebuild at West Ham by signing Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham.

Meanwhile, Said Benrahma and Ben Johnson have left, with Lopetegui eyeing at least four more new signings before the start of the 2024/25 season.

The Spaniard has already endeared himself to the London Stadium faithful by suggesting that the Hammers are ‘the only club in London‘.

Lopetegui still needs to sign at least six more new players as far as I’m concerned.

A new striker, centre-back, defensive midfielder, left winger, left-back and a right-back are required, if we are to challenge on all fronts next season.

It could be argued that the addition of a right-footed left winger should be one of Lopetegui’s main priorities this summer, especially after Benrahma’s exit was made official.

And now the 57-year-old West Ham boss has a great opportunity to bring in the perfect man to fill that role, for a real bargain fee…

The Hammers manager has a big chance to address a real problem position that he has in his squad right now.

Whilst Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta played out wide on the left at times last season, neither of them were at their best in that role.

Now it’s time for Lopetegui to bring in someone who’s comfortable playing out wide on the left, and has the ability to cut inside onto his stronger right foot.

And the door is now wide open for the West Ham manager to get a really good deal done for the club.

According to Portuguese outlet Record (print edition July 2nd), West Ham could now sign Jota Silva for just £12.7 million.

That would represent unreal value for the Hammers in this day and age.

The 24-year-old is someone who’s been on the Hammers radar since May, and that doesn’t surprise me at all given his quality.

Silva possesses pace in abundance, a wicked shot, exceptional technical ability and is an extremely hard worker.

The attacker was in fine form out in Portugal last season, with 15 goals and seven assists to his name for Vitoria de Guimaraes.

In my opinion, signing Jota Silva for just £12.7 million should be a no-brainer for West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui this summer.

There won’t be a better deal out there for the Hammers.
