Any state that has influence or plays a role should make every effort to ensure the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, according to the Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of State Vedant Patel.

Commenting on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine, Patel noted that the United States and NATO have made it clear that there is only one solution to this situation: the Russian Federation must withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine.

He emphasized that Russia is an aggressor that encroaches on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and disregards the UN Charter.

According to Patel, the United States has made it clear to partners and allies around the world that any state that has influence should make every effort to ensure Russia's complete withdrawal from Ukraine.

Orban's proposal

On July 2, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban visited Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the meeting, Orban asked Zelenskyy to consider a ceasefire before starting peace talks.

Later, the Office of the President of Ukraine noted that Hungary was not the first country to offer Ukraine a ceasefire. However, Kyiv has its own plan to achieve peace.
