Patrice Evra and David de Gea both in full agreement over former Man Utd Women star’s impact, they sent her messages

Manchester United legends Patrice Evra and David de Gea sent classy messages to England Women star Mary Earps after her impact on Manchester United Women.

Mary Earps arrived at Manchester United Women in 2019 after she left Wolfsburg Women and established herself as an influential figure in the first team.

The 31-year-old signed off her time at the Red Devils by capturing the Women’s FA Cup after United Women thrashed Tottenham 4-0 in the final at Wembley in May.

Earps had previously fallen short of the Women’s FA Cup trophy in the 2022-23 campaign, with United Women suffering a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea Women in 2023.

The former United Women star has seen incredible success on the international stage with England Women, including capturing the Women’s Euro in 2022.

However, the Lionesses fell short of the Women’s World Cup trophy in 2023, despite Earps taking home the Golden Glove award at the tournament.

Manchester United last week confirmed on their official website that Earps would leave Old Trafford after her contract with the club expired.

The Red Devils had offered a new deal to Earps to keep her at the club, only for the Lionesses star to reject a new contract.

Evra and De Gea react to Earps’ exit

Mary Earps took to Instagram and confirmed her exit from Manchester United Women in a lengthy post on the social media platform.

The former United Women No 1 said it was time for a “new challenge” and her decision to leave the club was not “one I’ve made lightly.”

“To my teammates, there have been some special people to grace our changing room over the past [five] years,” Earps added.

“I’m fortunate to have stood alongside you all and I’ll be rooting for you.

“Although this United chapter has sadly come to a close, I take with me a heart full of incredible memories.

“Thank you for welcoming me as one of your own and letting me be a part of your club.

“I wish you all the very best for the future and I hope I can continue to make you proud in my next chapter.”

Patrice Evra paid tribute to Earps and sent the England Women international a classy message over her contributions to the Red Devils.

“Merci for everything you [have] done for us,” he wrote, adding a heart emoji and a folded hands emoji.

David de Gea, much like Evra, showed his admiration by leaving a comment on Earps’ emotionally charged Instagram post.

The Manchester United legend, who is currently a free agent, reacted to Earps’ exit by simply leaving a raising hands emoji and a clapping emoji.

Earps confirms next move after Man Utd exit

Earps on Monday confirmed in an Instagram post that she had completed a free transfer move to Paris Saint-Germain Women.

“So excited and proud to join this great club,” she wrote.

“It feels like the perfect place to continue to improve as a player and hopefully we can have a lot of success together. Can’t wait to meet you all!”

Former United Women captain Katie Zelem, who has left the Red Devils this summer, was among the players to react to Earps’ announcement.

“Incredible,” she wrote, adding three clapping emojis.

Ella Toone, much like Katie Zelem, wasted no time in sharing her feelings at England Women teammate Earps moving to PSG Women.

“Your [sic] buzzin it’s green kits init,” she said.
