A Farmers Weekly spokesperson said: “Simon has altered sheep breeding and switched to mainly outdoor lambing.

“Moving away from heavy cultivations, he has widened the cropping range to ensure premiums, alongside managing successful diversifications.”

Mr Andrews is up against Breiffni Daly of Sansaw Estate in Shropshire, who has been nominated for overseeing an increase in cow numbers from 1,200 to 1,500 and raising technical and financial performance at the estate.

The winners of the Farmers Weekly 2024 awards will be announced at a special award ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane in London on October 3.
