What senior Liverpool figures want to avoid under Arne Slot next season

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is preparing to welcome the first wave of senior players for pre-season duty.

They will descend upon the red half of Merseyside once more as preparations for the new season get fully underway.

Both Slot and his new group of players will undoubtedly be anxious about what lies ahead, but there will also be plenty of excitement.

There is, however, still a long list of talented players who will not report back for club duty for quite some time.

That is because of their international commitments, with several Liverpool stars currently representing their nations.

And according to The Athletic, injuries are an issue that senior Liverpool figures want to avoid next season.

The publication reported that such problems were a headache for the Reds under Jurgen Klopp, with club chiefs having used the fitness records of squads as a key criteria when assessing who should take over the German.

The Athletic noted that Slot’s Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar sides were the fittest in the Eredivisie, with AZ renowned as the team who could continue sprinting in the final matches of games. Furthermore, muscle injuries were rare at AZ, although Slot’s teams did succumb to injury crises.

Can Arne Slot succeed at Liverpool?

Slot has a long to-do list this summer, from getting to know his players to bringing in new faces in order to bolster his squad.

The Dutchman has already been working hard in terms of the former, having already watched training sessions and matches of Liverpool, and indeed spoken with captain Virgil van Dijk.

Things are, however, quiet on the transfer front, with Slot perhaps taking his time in an attempt not to make any serious mistakes in that regard.

The Anfield faithful will definitely respect the difficulty of the overall task at hand and give their new manager time to settle in.

At the same time, however, the stakes are high, and the new man in the dugout will give himself a massive boost by being immediately successful.
