Report: City Football Group bid £5.7m for Brazilian gem, but he's just made £8.5m move to another PL club

The City Football Group reportedly made a bid to sign a talented young player who has just joined another Premier League club.

It has been all quiet so far this summer at Manchester City, with no major incoming or outgoings.

That is set to change very soon with winger Savio expected to be announced by the club, with an agreement having been in place since early this year. It is thought he will be sticking around with the first-team for 2024/25.

But aside from that, there is not a great deal going on at the moment. At least, that we know about.

City, and the City Football Group, are always busy behind the scenes though.

And last night, a report claimed that the CFG attempted to sign a talented young player. But their approach was unsuccessful, and he has now just joined another Premier League club.

It has been reported by NE 45 that the City Football Group made a bid recently for Brazilian teenager Pedro Lima.

The right-back had been at Brazilian club Sport Recife and is thought to be a young player with serious potential.

CFG are reported to have made a £5.7 million bid for the 18-year-old.

But nothing ever materialised, and Lima then had an agreement to join Chelsea.

But Chelsea are not the club he has ended up joining. It is Wolves who have snapped up the South American, having hijacked Chelsea’s move.

They have apparently paid around £8.5 million for Lima.

Sport Recife’s president Yuri Romão said of Lima’s sale: “We took all the care and attention to make the best possible deal for Sport, both in values, maintenance of the percentage and expansion of the brand, with direct sales to the main league in the world.”

“The current moment of the Club, which has been in a financial and credibility recovery, organizing itself, allowed us to negotiate calmly, without haste. So I believe that the balance of all this was extremely positive.”

Lima development will be interesting

This is an intriguing claim and Lima will now embark on his journey at Wolves.

The starlet seems like a really talented young player, and seemingly he is going to have a better chance of playing Premier League football sooner by making a move to Molineux, than to CFG or BlueCo, which represents Chelsea.

Had CFG snapped up Lima, then it is very possible he would have headed out on loan somewhere first.

It is going to be interesting to see how he develops, and if he can make himself a first-team option at Wolves.
