Arsenal fans now all want one of Arteta's coaching staff 'sacked' after latest transfer rumour

Arsenal supporters have now taken aim at one of Mikel Arteta’s coaches after the emergence of a new transfer link.

Arsenal have work to do in the goalkeeper department in this summer transfer window.

Having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, Aaron Ramsdale is now expected to leave Arsenal.

This would leave Mikel Arteta in need of a new goalkeeper to offer back up to David Raya next season, as the Brentford loanee is expected to make his switch to North London permanent.

The signing of goalkeepers, though, is often rather unusual, as a club’s goalkeeping coach tends to have a sizeable input into the matter.

The Gunners’ goalkeeper coach, Inaki Cana, was strongly involved in the decisions to bring Raya to the club in the first place, as well as Matt Turner and Runar Alex Runarsson. In the case of the latter two acquisitions, though, they can only be considered transfer missteps.

According to Relevo, Cana is now urging Arsenal to make a move for Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia this summer, who is available for around £21 million.

Arsenal fans frustrated with Inaki Cana after Joan Garcia transfer link

Given Cana’s patchy record when it comes to recommending goalkeeper targets for Arsenal, many supporters of the North London club are less than enthused about the prospect of launching a bid for Garcia.

Many fans took to X to voice their frustration with the coach.

One supporter said: “Oh god, can we keep Inaki Cana away from transfers.”

Another added: “Inaki cana needs to be sacked.”

One fan stated: “Driven my Inaki Cana is not exactly thrilling.. been here before.”

One commented: “Who was the person that liked Runarsson? Was that the same bloke?!”

Who is Arsenal target Joan Garcia?

23-year-old goalkeeper Garcia came through the Espanyol academy system and made his first team debut for the club in January 2022.

However, he did not establish himself as a regular starter until the second half of the campaign that has just gone by. He was able to play a key role in helping Espanyol earn promotion back to La Liga.

Signing Garcia, talented as he is, certainly represents something of a risk as he lacks experience and is yet to be tested at the highest level. The price tag quoted for the Spain under-21s international only serves to amplify the scale of the gamble that Arsenal are being encouraged to take by Cana.

There are certainly other goalkeepers available to Arsenal this summer who may offer a more secure investment to Arteta.
