Current President of the United States Joe Biden expressed doubts about whether he could continue his election campaign. This occurred after his debates with presidential contender Donald Trump, according to The New York Times.

According to The New York Times, Biden told one of his key allies that he realizes he could lose his candidacy if he doesn't convince the public of his suitability for the office after the unsuccessful results of last week's debates.

"He knows if he has two more events like that, we’re in a different place by the end of the weekend," a source told NYT.

It is noted that this conversation between Biden and his ally is the first public indication that he is seriously considering whether he can recover after the debate with Trump.

Preceding events

Recently, debates took place ahead of the presidential elections in the USA, involving incumbent leader Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. According to polls, Biden performed worse than expected in the debates.

It's worth noting that neither Biden nor Trump have officially been chosen as their party's nominees yet.

It became known that Vice President Kamala Harris is considered the most likely alternative to replace Joe Biden if he decides to withdraw from the presidential race.
