Report: Everton now on pole position to sign 'sensational' £30m striker from Premier League rival

Everton are now on pole position to sign one Chelsea player during the transfer window, as the Toffees look to continue their bright start to the summer.

The Toffees may have surprised a few with how busy they have managed to be in the early stages of the summer, with Jack Harrison returning for a second loan spell while Tim Iroegbunam and Iliman Ndiaye have signed permanently.

There had been speculation Dominic Calvert-Lewin could leave Everton, so it is hardly surprising that they appear to be well-placed to sign one Premier League striker this summer.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Everton are now on pole position to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea, with AC Milan and Wolves also admirers of the Albania international.

Everton on pole position to sign Armando Broja

Broja has had a difficult time since suffering a serious injury, having been loaned out by Chelsea for the second-half of last season, with the 22-year-old making the short move to Fulham.

He failed to score in his eight appearances for the Cottagers, with the stunning form of Rodrigo Muniz keeping Broja out of the side for the large part of the loan spell.

Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Broja for £30 million, but it is not clear whether Everton would be prepared to meet those demands.

Why Chelsea should be open to fresh loan move

Everton may perhaps feel that there is an opportunity to convince Chelsea to let Broja leave Stamford Bridge on loan ahead of the coming season, as the forward is under contract with the Blues until 2028, so they are under little pressure to sell.

Of course, Chelsea will want to bring funds in to strengthen their own budget, but loaning him out for a year could arguably make a real difference to his value in 12 months time.

Having said that, Everton may be optimistic that his asking price could prove to be a real bargain if he realises his ‘sensational‘ potential with the Toffees.

Given that they are now reportedly on pole position, Sean Dyche’s men must seemingly think that his ceiling is a lot higher than many perhaps realise after last season.
