'A good chance': Leroy Sane thinks £90k-a-week Man City reported target can win the Ballon d'Or

Former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane believes one of the club’s reported targets could be a potential Ballon d’Or winner.

City are always on the lookout for top players and have brought many stars to the Etihad Stadium over the years.

Over the last few years City have had plenty of players included on the Ballon d’Or shortlist.

Erling Haaland came very close to winning it last year, but was pipped at the post by Lionel Messi, who won it for the eighth time.

City will surely have more players vying for the award again next time out.

Leroy Sane believes there is a player who has a good chance of winning a Ballon d’Or, and he has recently been linked with a move to Manchester City.

Jamal Musiala has been one of the standout players so far at Euro 2024.

The attacking midfielder has played four times so far for Germany, and blown fans away with his technical ability. He also left Jeremy Doku very impressed, with the current City winger suggesting he’d been the best player at the tournament.

Musiala was recently suggested as being someone City have an eye on.

He only has a couple of years left on his contract at Bayern Munich, so there has been some speculation about him potentially being sold this summer.

One man who knows Musiala better than most is Leroy Sane, who plays with him for both club and country.

Sane spoke to the media ahead of Germany’s last-16 match against Spain on Friday night, and suggested the City target has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.

He said (via sport.de): “Jamal is a great boy, we get along very well. He should keep scoring his goals: I hope that he becomes top scorer. He deserves it that it now works even better in front of goal. Jamal works very hard for it.”

“He definitely has the qualities for it. If Jamal continues like this, he has a good chance of becoming a world footballer soon. I wish him this title as well.”

Musiala would be an amazing signing by City

It would be really amazing to see Musiala in a City shirt, as unlikely as it probably is at the moment.

It has been very clear to see just what an amazing player he is at Euro 2024, but he has been impressing with Bayern Munich long before this tournament.

Sane is not the only former City player to wax lyrical about Musiala since he’s been in action at the Euros.

Former City captain Ilkay Gundogan also stated that he thinks £90,000-a-week star Musiala can become one of the top players in his position.

Sane is right, if he continues to play like he has been doing at the Euros, a Ballon d’Or may well be coming his way in the not-too-distant future. If Germany win Euro 2024 and he wins a Golden Ball or Golden Boot, he may well be in with a chance of winning the next one.
