Edu urged to break transfer record for Arsenal target 'immediately' after Euro 2024 masterclass

Arsenal have now been urged to launch a bid for a player considered the best in his position at Euro 2024.

Mikel Arteta is working to strengthen his Arsenal squad in a number of key areas this summer.

Whilst the Gunners are known to be on the lookout for a new striker, and signing a midfielder is now the top priority for Arteta, it is also the case that Arsenal are seeking a left-back too.

Italy sensation Riccardo Calafiori has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium, and would certainly address this issue in Arteta’s squad.

However, Arsenal have now been urged to forget about Calafiori and to focus their efforts on sealing a deal for Ferdi Kadioglu instead.

Arsenal told to forget Riccardo Calafiori and sign Ferdi Kadioglu for record fee

Kadioglu is currently impressing for Turkey at Euro 2024. He was once again excellent for the national team as they secured their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 2-1 over Austria in Leipzig on Tuesday.

Kadioglu played as a left-wing-back in that match, which allowed him to get forward and make use of his attacking instincts. However he is also defensively solid.

Watching on as the 24-year-old shone against Austria, Turkish reporter Fatih Dogan, as quoted by Ajansspor, claimed: “The Arsenal team, who came to follow Ferdi, who is in my opinion the best left-back of the tournament yesterday, should have given a report saying, ‘Let’s pay 50 million Euros and get him immediately.’”

€50 million equates to around £42 million. If the Gunners were to shell out such a fee to prise Kadioglu away from his current club Fenerbahce then it would set a record for the highest price paid to sign a player from the Turkish Super Lig.

Is Kadioglu the right fit for Arsenal?

The 19-cap Turkey international is undeniably talented, and could certainly work well with Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank for the Gunners.

However, if it comes down to a straight choice between the Fenerbahce man and Calafiori, then the Bologna ace perhaps offers a more rounded package, as he is also able to slot in comfortably at centre-back, where he has impressed recently at international level.

This means that he would be able to offer cover for Gabriel Magalhaes, as well as compete for minutes at full-back.
