'Incredible': Javier Mascherano says Ange Postecoglou has a player at Tottenham who has no ceiling

Tottenham Hotspur have shown a lot of improvement under Ange Postecoglou with the Australian able to get the best out of the group of players he has in north London.

The australian has been able to change the feeling at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the last 12 months with improved results and performances.

There has been a number of players who have really stepped up for Postecoglou at Tottenham and really made a name for themselves in the Premier League.

Spurs were able to land themselves a fifth-placed finish last season which showed the vast improvement happening under the 58-year-old.

And with the current crop of players at the club, there has to be excitement for what is to come under the guidance of Postecoglou.

Tottenham told they have a player who has no ceiling

This summer has seen a number of Tottenham players represent their nations at the ongoing international tournaments.

The Copa America and Euros has provided players an extended season with some Spurs players still waiting to take their summer break.

And then there is the summer Olympics which defender Cristian Romero was linked with potentially representing Argentina.

However, Romero has not been included in the Argentina Olympic squad, much to the delight of those at Tottenham.

But on the back of Romero’s omission from the side, manager Javier Mascherano has come out and hailed the Spurs defender to the media.

“Cuti Romero is among the best center-backs in the world, if he’s not the best already. We don’t know what his ceiling is,” said Mascherano.

“He has demonstrated it throughout the entire season at Tottenham. He has been a cornerstone player for the team, incredibly important, and the Tottenham coach has repeatedly praised him in big matches.

“I believe he is at an incredible level, a player with impressive abilities who continues to grow and improve. The level he is reaching is impressive.”

Tottenham need to prove their direction to Cristian Romero

The Argentine centre-back has now been at Spurs for a number of years and is yet to get his hands on any silverware.

Meanwhile, at international level, Romero has lifted both the World Cup and Copa America with another Copa America potentially on the way this summer.

Spurs have, of course, shown improvement under Postecoglou, but a player of this quality will surely be wanting to get his hands on trophies at club level.

Three years remain on Romero’s deal and if there is any hope of an extension then perhaps Spurs will have to show they are actually capable of ending this trophy drought.

After all, Real Madrid have already been linked with a potential move for the Argentine.
