Exclusive: Man City expecting bid for ‘exceptional’ £35m star who’s keeping his options open this summer

Manchester City are now bracing themselves for a bid for a player who is currently ‘considering his options’ after making 43 appearances last season.

It seems as if Pep Guardiola’s side are about to kick their summer transfer plans into gear, with Savio reportedly set to arrive from Troyes.

The young Brazilian has been part of the club’s City Football Group since 2022 and spent last season on loan at Girona, enjoying great success.

And it’s now reported that the 20-year-old, who is currently at Copa America 2024 with Brazil, will arrive on a five-year-contract.

That being said, TBR Football understands that Man City are now bracing themselves for a bid from the Saudi Pro League for their current Brazilian star, Ederson.

TBR can confirm that Ederson’s representatives have been holding talks with the Pro League ahead of a potential summer move.

It is understood that an offer to make Ederson the highest paid goalkeeper in world football has now been made.

Man City will make Stefan Ortega new number one if Ederson heads to Saudi Arabia

Man City have been aware that a bid was likely for their goalkeeper this summer after Ederson told the club about his plans at the end of last season.

City were ready to open talks over a new deal but Ederson expressed that he was ‘considering his options’.

As a result, City decided to tie current number two Stefan Ortega down to a new deal, signing a contract until the summer of 2006.

TBR understands that if Ederson did leave the club this summer, Guardiola would plan to promote Ortega to number one and then bring in a new backup option.

31-year-old Ortega, who joined the club back in 2022, has impressed whenever given a chance, and has earned the reputation as one the best number twos in the Premier League.

And in his 20 appearances last season it did become clear that Ortega could handle the biggest of occasions, a player ready to fulfil a more significant role.

Despite being uncapped by Germany, becoming Manchester City’s new number one could change everything for Ortega in that regard, who still has many prime years ahead.

And although Marc-Andre Ter Stegen looks like a natural replacement for Manuel Neuer once he retires from international football, Ortega may still hope to interrupt that procession.
