Report: Paul Mitchell handed two Newcastle transfer demands by Eddie Howe as his summer budget is made clear

Newcastle United’s summer transfer window swung into action over the weekend with the Toon battling against the PSR deadline.

The Toon endured a nervous last week after Eddie Howe and his side were left sweating over the future of players like Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Thankfully for the Magpies, neither of their big ticket players departed the club last week with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh the two players sold.

Now it is time for Newcastle to put their PSR woes behind them and look ahead to the new campaign where they will be aiming to bounce back into the European places.

Injuries caused a real issue for the Toon last season and this summer is going to provide them with the opportunity to bolster their squad for the new campaign.

How much Newcastle have to spend in this summer’s transfer window

Since PIF’s takeover back in 2021, the Toon have been labeled with the tag of being the world’s richest club.

However, due to the financial regulations currently in the game, they have been unable to spend the riches of their wealthy owners.

This summer was always going to start off on shaky ground with Newcastle needing to sell some players to generate some cash in order of balancing the books.

But they have been able to get through that without losing any of their most important players.

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle are going to have around £100m to spend this summer on players.

This will allow Howe with some considerable room to spend with the Newcastle boss said to be eyeing two priority signings this summer.

After struggling through injuries last season, Howe is looking to add a new centre-back and right-sided forward to his squad.

Newcastle announce Paul Mitchell as new sporting director

After finally coming to a resolution with Manchester United over a package for Dan Ashworth, Newcastle have confirmed Paul Mitchell as their new sporting director.

This is a man who brought Sadio Mane to Southampton and the likes of Heung-min Son and Dele Alli to Tottenham.

Arriving at St James’ Park, Mitchell looks set to be handed a decent amount of money to spend as Howe eyes two priority positions.

And the Toon will be hoping he can work his magic which he has shown at other clubs in the Premier League.
