Just a few days after Tottenham joined the race for his signature, a French player has now seemingly started taking English lessons.
Spurs have already secured the £30m signing of a homegrown talent in Archie Gray – who joins from Leeds United in a deal which also sees Joe Rodon move to Elland Road permanently.
Now, a foreign talent has added fuel to the fire amid rumours of Tottenham interest…
Desire Doue seemingly starts learning English amid Tottenham links
TBR Football exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Tottenham have joined the race to sign Rennes No.33 Desire Doue.
The France U23 international – who Give Me Sport believe is valued at £60m by Rennes – has been the subject of scouting missions from Spurs across the last six months, and is high on Tottenham’s list of options to strengthen the attack.
Now – in an interesting turn of events – Doue has started to follow a page called vocabulaire.anglais on Instagram in an apparent bid to improve his English.
Of course, the 19-year-old may simply want to learn English for his own benefit rather than solely to make a move to the Premier League run more smoothly, although the timing is particularly striking.
Instagram shows follows in chronological order, and Doue has only recently started following vocabulaire.anglais – while his latest follow was actually the aforementioned Rodon, who just left Tottenham for Leeds.
Furthermore, the teenager also liked a post about Gray passing his medical at Tottenham, so the French wonderkid certainly seems to have eyes on developments at Spurs right now.
France U23 international would be a special signing for Spurs
If Johan Lange can bring Doue to N17, we would even argue that Tottenham have the most exciting squad in Europe, in terms of potential.
The forward from Angers is an elite prospect – one who has already been compared to Wayne Rooney while making 43 appearances in all competitions last season.
If Tottenham can add Doue to the current crop of precocious talent, such as Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Gray, Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and others, it really wouldn’t surprise us to see Spurs become one of Europe’s best sides in a few years – the potential of these talents is truly frightening.
