Taylor Swift's strong work ethic means Travis Kelce is going to miss out this year

Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July parties are the stuff of legend, and there have been five bashes leaving Swifties longing for an invitation over the years.

We’ve all found ourselves daydreaming about the star-studded parties we’d throw if we were ever to strike it rich and famous. In daydreams, it’s easy to round up any celebrities you wish for the ultimate celebration, but if you’re Taylor Swift, it turns out it’s just as effortless in reality. With some help from her record-breaking Eras Tour, the 34-year-old Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter hit billionaire status in 2023, a year that also marked the return of her world-famous Fourth of July party. The United States’ Independence Day is a big one for millions of proud Americans. However, due to such a busy touring schedule bypassing this year’s, her boyfriend Travis Kelce is going to be missing out on what would’ve been the social event of the summer. Swifties can’t wait to see him welcomed into the rich tradition eventually, so let’s waltz down memory lane and reminisce about the five Fourth of July parties that did happen.

Taylor Swift’s 2013 party started it all

Try not to panic, but 2013 was over a decade ago… where does the time go? Released in October of the previous year, Swifties were still blasting out her fourth studio album Red, with massive singles like I Knew You Were Trouble and 22 cemented as summer anthems.

It was the year she bought her home in Rhode Island, and so began what was destined to be a tradition. The Taylor Swift Fourth of July party. An American institution.

Like Tay’s humble career, the party had small beginnings. At the time, she wrote on her blog that she was joined at the gathering at her High Watch house by her “touring family”. Consider this her party to break the house in, if you will, as she’d only bought it that spring.

Fresh off the Red tour, Tay, her parents, and her incredible dancers had fun with everything from face-painting to, of course, the traditional display of fireworks no Independence Day would be complete without.

The next year primed Taylor’s Fourth of July tradition for takeoff

If a party with Taylor could ever possibly be described as casual, it would have been 2013’s, because 2014 saw the annual event become a star-studded staple to make Swifties green with envy.

Fans were eagerly anticipating her fifth studio album 1989, and even before its release launched her into the stratosphere higher than ever before, she had a wide range of recognizable names having a blast at her second Fourth of July party.

Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Lena Dunham, Jaime King, Jessica Szohr, Jessica Stam, Odeya Rush, and more were there to help make the soirée headline news, and fans still share the legendary pictures. If those names didn’t make it a bigger success than in 2013, then the addition of the slip n’ slide surely did the trick.

2015’s party had Jonas brothers, Haim sisters and a DJ ex

As any Swiftie fan knows all too well, 1989 was a colossal triumph and remains on heavy rotation to this day, never mind 2015.

She was still coasting high off the multi-platinum LP’s success, and as one of the biggest musicians in the world, she had no trouble getting even more famous faces at her Fourth of July extravaganza than the previous year.

The 2015 bash was essentially a who’s who of celebs, and thanks to that, there were plenty of fun snaps for fans to marvel over. Tay’s squad sported American flag onesies, which could be seen in both Polaroids and phone-snapped selfies.

Famous friends in attendance included the Haim sisters, whom Taylor would later collaborate with on the Evermore favorite No Body, No Crime in 2020. Jonas brothers Nick and Joe also swung by, as well as Joe’s model girlfriend at the time, Gigi Hadid. Tay and Gigi’s friendship is basically legendary at this point.

Long before the days of Travis, Taylor was dating the popular DJ Calvin Harris, who was also seen living it up at the summer blowout.

Taylor’s 2016 party will forever be remembered for Tom Hiddleston

Like Taylor’s albums, each party only seemed to get bigger and bigger: 2016 was insane.

Her good friends Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were soaking up the sun, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg; Ruby Rose, Cara Delevingne, St. Vincent, Este Haim, and more were having the time of their lives there. But the most notable guest was English actor Tom Hiddleston.

Known for playing Loki in the Marvel movies, he dated Taylor for a few months in 2016, between May and September. Still, fans’ jaws dropped when he was photographed wearing an ‘I Heart T.S.’ shirt at the party.

Tom took the time to explain the bold fashion choice during a later interview with GQ. “… We were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back,” he explained. “And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ‘Does anyone have a t-shirt?’ And one of her friends said, ‘I’ve got this’… And we all laughed about it. It was a joke.”

It remains an iconic moment in the canon. People are still buying those shirts to this day.

Tay resurrected the tradition after seven-year hiatus

After the massive 2016 bash, fans expected to see her go even bigger in July 2017, but that wasn’t the case. All hands were on deck for the preparation and rollout of her forthcoming album, Reputation that November.

In the time between her 2016 and 2023 parties, fans were graced by four studio albums: Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), and Midnights (2022). Taking the COVID-19 pandemic into account, having parties wasn’t exactly the top priority on anybody’s list for a significant period.

However, Taylor finally celebrated the beloved holiday in style again last year, joined by the likes of the Haim sisters, Selena Gomez, Ashley Avignone, and Sydney Ness.

The squad posed for a range of pictures throughout the night, looking tight-knit embracing the fun in Polaroid snaps.

Don’t worry Trav, there’s always 2025.
